Our principle and our mission at McIntoshLinguistics

Garie McIntosh was both motivated and inspired to develop not just a grammatical product but an educational one as well for editing.
Work the solution out rather than find instant answers.

Our principle

Our principle

As the creator and owner of McIntoshLinguistics, Garie was both motivated and inspired to develop not just a grammatical product but an educational one as well. Hence the business was founded on this principle:

Work the solution out rather than find instant answers.

He was inspired to expand on the principle, the description for which he borrowed from an article he read about the purpose of grammar software, or grammar apps, in our machine-learning (or natural language processing) world. Here is the quote:

We can “google” anything and find instant answers, eliminating the need to debate or work out the solution. Of course, there are many things we don’t know, and searching for knowledge is a good thing. But we have been conditioned to think that technology has all the answers, and that’s not necessarily true with language. At least, it’s not true yet.

Our mission

Searching for real satisfaction through being a writer? We would like to offer our approach to becoming not just a writer but a storytelling communicator. What does this mean to us?

It means that you can harness the skills of an editor through our grammatical and educational editing process-method. It is our mission to teach you how to edit your manuscript to meet traditional publishing standards. As an added benefit, editing, in our experience, yields two intrinsic outcomes that will give you real satisfaction as a storytelling communicator:

  1. Earned success
  2. Service to others

Through our service, product solutions and tools, our principle is constant: Work the solution out rather than find instant answers.

The knowledge behind our approach

Our service, product solutions and tools exemplify and exploit our own principle of working the solution out. This fact encourages the user to do the same. For example, he or she must understand grammatical form and grammatical function, both of which McIntoshLinguistics uses as a theory for teaching grammar. This prerequisite allows us to present the user with the necessary research for him or her to acquire the relevant knowledge in pursuit of grammatical edits.

We have built education into our service, product solutions and tools. They all feature both the research and the knowledge that Garie has acquired over years of reading, writing, editing and publishing experience. We believe that to provide you with the necessary research is to help you ensure grammaticality in your manuscript.

The educational aspect, a key feature of our grammatical editing business, is facilitated by a unique and rigorous editing method we have created called MCINTOSHFORMS™.
